Hide and Seek is an all-time classic group game. How about we try it on Wilder?

Inspired by the Italian Hide and Seek World Championship, i propose we organize a multi-field, multi-leveled tournament, with fantasy and/or biome inspired hide and seek grounds, maybe starting with bigger turfs and going smaller each round. (This gameplay would originally not involve any coding, so it should only rely on building the levels and turfs, which would make it easier to implement).

As general rules/instructions, i propose the following (which on discussion can be adjusted to be more practical):

  • Players conceal themselves in a set environment, to be found by one seeker. The game is played by one chosen player (designated as being "it") counting to a predetermined number with eyes closed while the other players hide. After reaching this number, the player who is "it" calls "Ready or not, here I come!" or "Coming, ready or not!" and then attempts to locate all concealed players.
  • After the first hider is caught or if no other players can be found over a period of time, the seeker calls out a previously-agreed phrase (such as "Olly olly oxen free", or "All in, All in, Everybody out there all in free") to signal the other hiders to return to base for the next round.
  • On the first, bigger rounds, when hiders are caught they may help the seeker locate the remaining hiders.
  • Depending on practicality, when the seeker spots a hider they both race to the spot where the seeker was originally counting. If the seeker gets there first, the hider is out. If the hider is first, his free and cant become the next "it" or seeker.

The game can end in one of several ways.

  • The most common way of ending is the player chosen as "it" locates all players; the player found first is the loser and is chosen to be "it" in the next game. The player found last is the winner.
  • Another common variation has the seeker counting at "home base"; the hiders can either remain hidden or they can come out of hiding to race to home base; once they touch it, they are "safe" and cannot be tagged. Hiders must yell "free" when they touch base or they can still be tagged out.
  • If the lat hidden player makes it back to home base unseen and uncatched, he can set all hiders free.

Drawing inspiration from the following:

  1. Hide and seek world championship officially named "Nascondino World Championship" that is held annually in Italy, in summer. The game is a derivative of the Italian version of hide and seek, "nascondino" (hide-and-seek in Italian), and takes place on a playground in the open air, set up with artificial and natural hideouts.

Thanks for reading!

Hey BlackDog,
This seems like a great idea, more discussion on rules & implimentation will be needed (Such as knowing when a player has been tagged). But over all we would love to see this event be done and we shall have more discussion of it with event team and possibly devs if needed. Please Feel free to keep sending us any ideas you have to go along with this.

Thanks For The Feedback - GoldenFlame
