Adding a coal block to an everlasting torch increases how many torches are added by each coal. with only a few coal blocks you can get millions of torches.
1 Coal block makes the next coal add 144 torches:
2nd coal block makes the next coal add 1296
3rd -> 11,664
4th -> 104,967
5th -> 944,784
It keeps increasing after that as well.
