Is mob farm effective in the server?

I've built some non-spawner mob farm in my single world and it works great, but I'm wondering will it work good on the server as well? And whether it's allowed?

As long as the farm isn’t real laggy it’s allowed.

Though you might get low spawn rates because of the mob cap. Depends on how many players are on
