Premise:
These boots will allow a player to walk at normal or running speed, but stop when it detects an Air block ahead, stopping the player at the edge - similar to holding SHIFT. In order to bypass the magnetic power of the boots, a player can hit SPACEBAR to jump and fall to the next block. This will allow players to navigate a surface at speed without accidentally falling. Particularly helpful for builders, who need to build long bridges or platforms and hate sacrificing speed using the SHIFT method.
Great for: building roofs, constructing tall farms, aventurers, players who are afraid of heights and players who like to pretend they are Magneto.
Options:
Perhaps an option to toggle the magnetic sensitivity with /magnetstrength of 1, 2 or 3, allowing a player to specify how far of a drop the boots will stop at the edge - 3+ blocks, 2+ blocks or 1+ block. This could be particularly useful for adventurers who want to explore without fearing the accidental trip into an ocean of lava, or a drop into the dark void of The End, while still being able to traverse basics changes in elevation as normal.
Game Balance:
These boots might offer little to nothing in terms of protection, and might not even come with Feather Falling - be careful how far you drop! Players may want to use a strategy of bringing slow falling potions or elytra with them. A backup pair of battle-ready boots might also be recommended!
